Opening ceremony of the forum

Mr. Zhang Yantong and Mr. Yang Hong attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

In his address, Mr. Zhang noted the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up is an important moment in the endeavor to realize the Chinese dream, i.e. the great renewal of the Chinese nation, and build a modern, strong socialist country. Reform and opening up is a social revolution that profoundly changed China and had a deep influence on the world. It enabled China’s fast growth in the past four decades and will remain crucial to realizing the goal of becoming a modern, strong socialist country and realize the Chinese dream. In today’s world, the future of peoples are more interconnected than ever before. To promote peace and development, China will continue to fulfill its mission of contributing to human progress. To this end, China will join hands with all countries, develop global partnerships, foster friendship and cooperation, and establish a new pattern of state-to-state interactions featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation. Together, we will build a community with a shared future for mankind, make our world more peaceful, and deliver a happier life to our people.

Mr. Yang Hong said among the special economic zones, Shenzhen was the earliest to engage in reform and opening up in China, with the most impressive progress and greatest influence. It is a perfect epitome of the nation-wide endeavor. The best way to commemorate this policy is to continue its implementation. Shenzhen will not take a break from reform or opening-up. It will strive to be a window for the world to see China’s progress under the policy and make renewed contribution to making our country a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.
