COSC Delegation Visited Japan and Mongolia

From 14 to 21 May, 2017, COSC Vice Chairman Wang Weimin led a delegation to Japan and Mongolia for research on “Agricultural Modernization and Urbanization Models in East Asia”. Counsellors Liu Zhiren and Hu Peiyuan were on the delegation.
     
In Japan, Wang Weimin had meetings with officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the City of Sapporo. During the delegation’s visit to the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations, they had detailed exchanges on cooperative agricultural productions and made investigation trips to an agricultural products trading market in Kawagoe and an agricultural support center in Sapporo. Vice Chairman Wang also visited the Canon Institute for Global Studies (CIGS), where he had talks with Toshihiko Fukui, President of CIGS, and agricultural expert Kazuhito Yamashita on agriculture and rural development in China and Japan.

During their visit to Mongolia, Vice Chairman Wang had meetings with officials of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development on agriculture and urban development in Mongolia. Vice Chairman Wang also visited the Institute of Strategic Studies of Mongolia for the first time and had talks with Director Damba Ganbat. He invited the institute to visit COSC next year. Following the meeting, Vice Chairman Wang visited a wool factory and a farm in Ulaanbaatar.

Minister Liu Shaobin of the Chinese embassy in Japan and Yang Qingdong, charge d’affairs of the Chinese embassy in Mongolia met with Wang Weimin.
