King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia Attended the Chinese Culture Tour at Fenghua and Visited the Xuedou Temple

On the afternoon of April 7th, King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia, who was on a visit to Zhejiang, went to the Xuedou Mountain in Fenghua, Ningbo, attending the Chinese Culture Tour at Fenghua and visited the Xuedou Temple. Zhang Meiying, Vice Chairwoman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and Honorary Chair of the Taihu World Culture Forum, Tang Yijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee, Feng Yuan, Vice President of CCICH, Yan Zhaozhu, Chairman of the Taihu World Culture Forum, Xu Kaicheng, Chairman of the Nam Kwong Company, and Eminent Monk Yizang of the Xuedou Temple attended the events.

In the Xuedou Mountain, King Norodom Sihamoni attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition at the Thousand-Monk Hall of the Xuedou Temple. After the ceremony, he had a tour of the hall and looked at the works of the researchers of CCICH and local institutes of culture and history. Over 150 works were on display. Some were masterpieces by old-generation prominent artists, such as CCICH researchers Hou Dechang and Jin Hongjun. There were also works by younger artists. The works of different generations showcase the superb skills and vitality of Chinese calligraphy and painting.

During the visit, King Sihamoni burned incenses and pay respects to the Buddha at the temple. He also received a gift from the host, an album of King Sihanouk during his visit to Xikou, Fenghua in 1988.

The Chinese Culture Tour is a comprehensive culture event co-hosted by COSC, CCICH and local governments to promote traditional Chinese culture. The tour usually features lectures, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, field trips and workshops. Since 2013, the Chinese Culture Tour has been held in Guizhou, Chongqing, Gansu, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Macao and Fenghua and is immensely popular among CCICH researchers and local people.

The Chinese Culture Tour at Fenghua opened on the morning of April 7th, co-sponsored by COSC, CCICH, Taihu World Culture Forum and Nam Kwong Company and co-organized by CPC Fenghua Committee and Fenghua Government. Gao Haomeng, Secretary of the CPC Fenghua Committee, spoke on behalf of the co-organizers at the opening ceremony. Xu Kaicheng and Yan Zhaozhu addressed the opening ceremony on behalf of Nam Kwong Company and the Taihu World Culture Forum. Feng Yuan delivered opening remarks on behalf of COSC and CCICH. Zhang Meiying, Vice Chairwoman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and Honorary Chair of the Taihu World Culture Forum, announced the opening of the event.

In his address, Feng Yuan said the brilliant Chinese history of thousands of years is the source of confidence and the cultural bond for the Chinese nation. Over the centuries, the Chinese nation has placed great value on cultural development, preservation, exchange and mutual learning. The CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the central leadership are committed to promoting the Chinese culture. The Chinese Culture Tour is a measure adopted by COSC and CCICH to implement the decision of the central government to promote and develop the Chinese culture. Four years have passed. The Chinese Culture Tour has become a signature cultural event of COSC and CCICH. CCICH is an important promoter of traditional Chinese cultures and enjoy high reputation in society. This event showcased the outstanding cultural achievements of CCICH researchers, increased cultural exchanges between different localities, and promoted the preservation and development of traditional Chinese cultures.

After the opening ceremony, Ye Xiaowen, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Committee on Culture, History and Learning, gave an opening lecture titled “World Cultural Landscape and Trends”. CCICH Researchers Yang Tianshi and Tian Qing gave lectures “Chiang Kai-shek” and “Buddhism and Chinese Culture” based on their research findings and in light of the history and culture of Fenghua respectively at the Wuling Middle School and the Xuedou Temple. The lectures were popular among the students and teachers and the monks of the monastery. The Taihu World Culture Forum: High-level Workshop on the Maitreya Culture, the launch of the “World Smile” Art Creation Event, and the high-level workshop on the preparation of the World Culture Commune were held. The participating researchers spent one day creating art works and held an art workshop.
