“Going Global” Strategy for Chinese Enterprises-50 Forum on Economic Development and Opening Up in Border Area was Held
On 19 September 2016, the first “Going Global” Strategy for Chinese Enterprises-50 Forum on Economic Development and Opening Up in Border Area was held in Alxa, Inner Mongolia. COSC Vice Chairwoman Wang Hong addressed the opening ceremony. Counsellor Lin Yifu of the State Council gave a video message. Counsellor Ge Zhirong and Research Fellows Zhang Xinsheng, Wuyin, Xu Dingming and Zuo Xiaolei, Deputy Secretary of CPC Alxa Committee and Chief of the Alxa League Feng Yuzhen gave keynote speeches at the forum. Yan Meng, Member of the CPC Alxa Committee and Executive Deputy Secretary of Alxa League, chaired the forum and announced its opening. Participants include officials and experts from COSC, NDRC, Ministry of Commerce, Publicity Department of the CPC Inner Mongolia Committee, Inner Mongolia Foreign Affairs Office, Department of Tourism and Department of Commerce, counsellor and diplomats of the Mongolian Embassy to China, members of the business community in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Ningxia and Gansu, as well as journalists. The forum focused on foreign trade and international production capacity cooperation and ecological conservation and low carbon energy system.
Wang Hong said in her speech that one important experience in China’s reform and opening up of more than 30 years is that opening-up provides a source of vitality for development. To further open up the border area and support the Belt and Road Initiative will help deepen regional cooperation, promote Western Development, increase ethnic solidarity, uphold border stability and safeguard national strategic security.
This Forum was initiated by economists Lin Yifu and Tang Min as a platform for dialogue and exchanges. It brings together members of the political, business and academic communities. It aims to discuss how Chinese companies seize opportunities, rise up to challenges and achieve healthy development as well as how to implement the Belt and Road strategy.
This forum in Alxa is the sub-forum of the “Going Global” Strategy for Chinese Enterprises-50 Forum. It is hosted by COSC and the government of Alxa, organized by the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia and co-organized by the government of Alxa and the Development Research Center of Inner Mongolia, with the support of the International Strategic Studies Center of COSC. Its purpose is to participate in the building of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road, speed up the opening of the borders, foster a harmonious and stable development environment and promote coordinated regional economic development. The establishment of the sub-forum enriches and expands the 50 Forum, and builds an important bridge for mutually beneficial cooperation between countries along the routes of the Belt and Road as well as an important platform for economic exchanges between these countries.
