National Conference on Counsellor’s Offices and Institutes for Culture and History and Meeting on External Exchanges Held in Beijing, with Important Instructions from Premier Li Keqiang

On March 24, the National Conference on Counsellor’s Offices and Institutes for Culture and History was held in Beijing. Li Keqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, gave important instructions on the opening of the conference. He commended the achievements of counsellor’s offices and institutes for culture and history, stressed the need to pool wisdom to rejuvenate the country and respect learning to promote cultures, and expressed the hope that counsellor’s offices and institutes for culture and history will contribute wisdom to the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
 
 

Party Secretary and Chairman Wang Zhongwei attended and addressed the conference. Vice Chairmen Fang Ning and Wang Weimin, and CCICH Vice President Feng Yuan were present at the conference. The theme of the conference is to study and implement the spirit of the 18th Party Congress and its third, fourth and fifth plenary sessions and the spirit of the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches, implement the spirit of the NPC and CPPCC sessions and the instructions of Premier Li Keqiang, review the work of 2015, plan the work of 2016, work for new breakthroughs and write a new chapter in the work of counsellor’s offices and institutes for culture and history.
 
 

In his remarks, Wang Zhongwei conveyed the instructions of Premier Li Keqiang. He said Premier Li Keqiang took time out of very busy schedule to make instructions on the opening of the conference, which shows the CPC Centeral Committee and the State Council attach great importance on the work of the counsellor’s offices and the institutes for culture and history. Premier Li’s instructions clearly defined the role of counsellor’s offices and the institutes for culture and history and pointed the direction forward. This is of great importance for both time being and a long time to come. The counsellor’s offices and the institutes for culture and history must implement the spirit of the instructions as a top priority in the time to come, live up to the expectations placed on them and break new ground in their work.
 
 
 

Wang Zhongwei reviewed the achievements made by the counsellor’s offices and the institutes for culture and history in the past few years and made a four-point proposal on their work in the next stage.
 

 
 

Representatives from eight counsellor’s offices and institutes for culture and history spoke at the conference. The conference broke into six panels, where participants discussed how to implement the instructions of the premier and improve their work in light of local conditions.
 
 

 
On March 25, the Meeting on External Exchanges of the Counsellor’s Offices and Institutes for Culture and History was held. The task of the meeting was to review the external exchanges carried out by the COSC and CCICH and local counsellors’ offices and institutes for culture and history, and discuss how to improve external exchanges and cooperation. COSC Party Secretary and Chairman Wang Zhongwei attended and address the meetings. Vice Chairman Fang Ning made explanatory remarks on the draft of the Guideline on Improving External Exchanges of the Counsellor’s Offices and Institutes for Culture and History. Vice Chairman Wang Weimin and CCICH Vice President Feng Yuan attended the meeting.
Participants exchanged ideas on the Guideline.
 
 
 

About 160 people attended the meeting, including leading officials from institutes for culture and history across the country and leading officials from the COSC and CCICH and their affiliated institutions.
