The Foundation of the Rao Zongyi Academic Hall was Established in Hong Kong

The launching ceremony of the Foundation of the Rao Zongyi Academic Hall was held in Hong Kong. Party Secretary Xu Guang of Chaozhou City led a delegation to the ceremony and made remarks.

Xu Guang applauded the remarkable academic achievements of Professor Rao Zongyi. He said that Professor Rao is a leading authority in Chinese learning and an outstanding representative of the Chaozhou natives, with both moral and scholarly excellence and a profound knowledge of  both Chinese and western learning. The Study of Rao Zongyi’s Works which has emerged because of his renowned scholarship thus can be considered as a wonder in the history of the Chinese culture. Professor Rao Zongyi is the initiator and founding father of the Study of Chaozhou, which for decades has made indelible contribution to the development and progress of the culture of Chaozhou. Since its inception, the Rao Zongyi Academic Hall has held many international academic events and has now become a cultural base in Chaozhou for promoting the Study of Rao Zongyi and the Study of Chaozhou. He hopes that the foundation will keep operating, make the Rao Zongyi Academic Hall stronger and lead it to a better future. He said that the CPC Chaozhou municipal committee and the Chaozhou municipal government will take this good opportunity of the launch of the foundation to further promote the Study of Rao Zongyi and the Study of Chaozhou, upgrade the cultural education of the Chaozhou citizens and the cultural taste of Chaozhou, advance international cultural exchanges and carry forward the traditional culture of Chaozhou.

It is said that the establishment of the Foundation for the Rao Zonyi Academic Hall of Chaozhou City is aimed at raising funds and mobilizing forces in support of the Study of Rao Zongyi, advancing international academic exchanges and promoting the fine traditional Chinese culture. Professor Rao Zongyi specially contributed six of his creations of painting an calligraphy and four of his couplets for auctions and raised over 15 million RMB as the starting capital for the foundation. Mr. Xie Xiantuan, honorary citizen of Chaozhou and Honorary President of the Foundation contributed 5 million HK dollars at the launching ceremony. The funds raised by the Foundation will be mainly used for the Rao Zongyi Academic Hall of Chaozhou.
