COSC Delegation Visited Japan and Canada

From 23 to 20, at the invitation of Japan’s Canon Institute for Global Studies (GIGS) and Vancouver Island University (VIU), Counsellors Ge Zhirong and Ma Li, CCICH Researcher Zhao Derun, Deputy Director of the State Council’s General Office Zhou Chen and COSC Director Li Yang visited Japan and Canada to study the old-age care, cultural and educational industries and attended a symposium between think thanks.
In Japan, the delegation visited three elderly medical and care institutions and held a talk with GIGS on the old-age care industry, where the Japanese side briefed the delegation on Japan’s ageing population and its system of long-term care for the elderly. At the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the delegation got information on Japan’s long-term care insurance policies, social security and nursery insurance system.
In Vancouver, the delegation visited four universities with distinctive features: the Vancouver Film School, the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, the Institute of Asian Research, British Columbia University, and Vancouver Island University. They held talks with the four universities to know about their visions and missions, academic features and international education.
