COSC-Wilson Center Joint Study Visits to Shaanxi and Gansu

From 3 to 6 December 2015, some of the delegates attending the Symposium on China-US Cooperation in the Context of the Belt and Road Initiative, co-organized by COSC and the Kissinger Institute of the Wilson Center, made study visits to Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. Counsellors Liu Yanhua, Li Yuguang and Wang Huiyao and Director General Sun Weijia of COSC, Deputy Director General Xu Xueyuan of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the foreign ministry, J. Stapleton Roy, former US Ambassador to China, Evan Feigenbaum, non-resident senior associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, David Dollar, senior fellow of the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution, Robert Daly, Director of the Kissinger Institute of the Wilson Center, and Sandy Pho, program officer of the Kissinger Institute were on the study tour.

Delegates visit Xi'an City Planning Exhibition Center
In Shaanxi and Gansu, delegates had talks with officials from the development and reform commission, department of transportation and counsellors' office on the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative. They visited Shaanxi Museum, Xi'an High-tech Park, Xi'an City Planning Center, as well as companies and cultural institutions. Director General Zhang Zupei of Shaanxi Counsellors' Office and Li Zhirong of Gansu Counsellors' Office accompanied the delegates on the visits.
