On the morning of August 28, 2023, Gao Yu, Chairman of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council (COSC), met with Aniruddha Dasgupta, President and CEO of the World Resources Institute (WRI), at the COSC office by appointment. 

Chairman Gao Yu welcomed the WRI delegation led by Mr. Dasgupta and recounted the history of cooperation between the COSC and WRI. He highlighted China’s remarkable achievements in speeding up the green and low-carbon shift in its development paradigm, as well as the COSC’s unique strengths in green development and tackling climate change, emphasizing the significance of continued collaboration. Mr. Dasgupta introduced WRI’s organizational profile and ongoing research projects, noting that sustained exchanges and dialogue between the two sides are of great significance given the current international context. He expressed hope for deepened cooperation to jointly contribute expertise and solutions to global climate action. The two sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including urban transportation and clean energy utilization. 

The meeting was also attended by relevant officials from the Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation of the COSC, and Fang Li, Country Director of WRI China.
