From April 17 to 26, 2025, Wang Weimin, Vice Chairman of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council (COSC), headed a delegation to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia upon invitation. The delegation engaged in think tank exchanges and carried out fieldresearch on bilateral economic and trade tiesas well as the operations of Chinese-fundedenterprises in these countries. Joining thedelegation wereXian Zude, Counsellor of the State Council and formerDeputy Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), and Li Wei, Counsellor of the State Council and Vice Deanand Professor of the School of New Media, Peking University.  

  During its visit toVietnam, the delegation visited the Vietnam Institute for Development Strategies, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, and conducted field research at the Vietnam branchof China Harbour Engineering Company Limitedand other Chinese-fundedenterprises. During its visit toMalaysia, thedelegationvisited the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, and held a symposium with Chinese-fundedenterprises. During its visit toCambodia, thedelegationvisited the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Cambodia Development Resource Institute, and conducted field research at the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and Zhejiang International Special Economic Zone, Cambodia. The delegation held in-depth exchanges with government agencies, think tanks and local Chinese-fundedenterprises in the three countries on following through onthe latest consensusreached duringGeneral Secretary Xi Jinping’s state visits, deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and the three ASEAN countries, jointly mitigatingthe impactsof U.S. tariff increases, and fostering a sound businessenvironment for Chinese-fundedenterprises operating in the region.

   Throughout the trip, Wang Wenbin, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia; Wang Qun, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam; and Sun Shuqiang, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, met with the delegation.
